10 Epic Adventure Destinations for First-Time Travellers

Adventure trip

Have you ever been having dreams of getting into an adventure trip but have no place start to do it? It is ok, I know how it feels. The first adventure journey was a bit of everything, excitement, confusion, and a lot of Googling. But believe me, once you step the first time you will never ever look backwards.

You dream of skirting the mountains, swimming in the ocean, or just trying something unusual instead of the usual day-to-day life: you are welcome. These are 10 great adventure destinations, which are ideal gateway destinations to start with when it comes to travelling, not too extreme, but with all the thrill and beauty.

1. Rishikesh, India – For White Water Rafting & Cliff Jumping

It is time to begin with home territory. Even though Rishikesh is the yoga capital, it is also a paradise to adventure enthusiasts. Ganga river has probably the best white water rafting in India.

Pro tip: Cliff jump at Brahmapuri. It all sounds terrifying, but it is quite, on the contrary, safe and entertaining with the right guides.

2. Pokhara, Nepal – For Paragliding Over Mountains

Right over our border there is a quiet township of Pokhara. It would be surrounded by beautiful Himalayan ranges and it is one of the best destinations in the world so far as paragliding is concerned.

I think I flew as a bird when I did paragliding in this area, the Annapurna mountain range was at my feet. Unreal feeling!

3. Bir Billing, Himachal Pradesh – Paragliding Capital of India

When you do not want to go overseas, Bir Billing comes in as a very good option. It is referred to as the paradise of paragliding in India.

The most wonderful thing about it? It’s beginner-friendly. The pilot is highly skilled and this flight is quite smooth.

4. Andaman Islands – Scuba Diving & Snorkelling

Not with mountains, you say ? Well, how about the sea? Andaman islands are packed with clear turquoise water, coral reefs full of colour as well as marine species that you have never encountered before.

Having never learned how to swim is not a problem because you can have first class scuba lessons that are also carried out by trained divers. I had done snorkelling in Havelock and it was wonderful.

5. Ladakh, India – Motorcycle Road Trip Adventure

Have you ever wished to ride a bike across the snowy mountains and the isolated villages? That is in Ladakh. It is ideal when you want to go on road trip with friends or even when you are going as a travel group.

Simply ensure that you acclimatise to the high altitude. The roads are hellish, but the sceneries are definitely 100% worth it.

6. Thailand – Jungle Treks & Island Adventures

Thailand is not only beaches. It is possible to do a jungle trekking in Chiang Mai, cave exploration, or ziplining into the forest.

And then, when you are in love with water, then go and have a kayaking adventure in Krabi between the limestones. It is also a country very cheap to visit hence best suited to young travellers.

7. Sri Lanka – Surfing & Wildlife Safaris

Indian travellers miss Sri Lanka a lot but it is a hidden gem. This is one of the best beginner locations in case you have ever wished to learn how to surf.

You may also take a wildlife safari in the Yala National park, I once saw a leopard in there and it was amazing.

8. Manali, Himachal Pradesh – Snow Activities & Valley Treks

Manali is a timeless favourite particularly during winters. Solang valley provides first-time visitors with an opportunity to go skiing, and snowboarding or just engage in simple snow treks.

I would not forget the snowball fight with people whom I just met on our group hike, we were all friends. It is that kind of place that offers you some comfort and adventure.

9. Bali, Indonesia – Volcano Hikes & Waterfalls

Admittedly, Bali can be associated with Instagram points and luxury accommodation, however, it is also a wonderful adventure destination. One of the things you can do is to climb Mount Batur that is an active volcano and watch the sun rise at the top early in the morning.

Ubud area also has waterfall hiking trails that are suitable to greenhorns and which are very cool.

10. Sikkim, India – Hidden Trails & Cultur

And the last but the not least, Sikkim is an adventure but a calm place without too much crowd and full of natural beauty. Nothing beats it when you at least give the Dzongri trek a chance, tour around Tsomgo lake or even sample the local cuisine in Gangtok.

It is ideal in case you wish to combine nature, culture, and adventure all in one.

 Final Tips Before You Go
